Exemplar Activities
This is a space where we hope to continue to add exemplar , real world relevant activities that we are using in the MakerSpace and classroom collaborations. We are hoping (and planning) to increase our exploration of career options and real world problems, and incorporate them into our "making" as part of cross-curricular projects. Ideally, these will include research, writing, building, etc. and work will be shared with real audiences.

Projects so far (and in the works):
Deep sea diving project: This was conceived as a career and writing connection by our fifth grade team. Students researched deep sea diving problems and equipment; spoke with a deep sea diver; planned models to improve the diving experience and built them; and finally wrote persuasive essays to "sell" them which they plan to present to the local diving experts.

Winter Bazaar: This third grade project combines economics, persuasive writing, and the "art of the sale" career exploration. In this project, students work as "store teams" to plan a product; build it; learn about advertising from a pro; develop video and print advertisements using iMovie and Word; and finally "sell" their products to younger students and then their own grade level.
